We Lost The Panda!

A fun Farmers Market evening w/ the fam turned scary when we lost Zoe's second favorite stuffed animal, Jane the Panda. This is the adventure of Dad coming to the rescue and finding the prized toy.

Go Out on Your Own

I don't want to get all Dr. Phil of y'all here, but I just wanted to stress the importance of keeping your individuality when you start dating, are in a serious relationship and/or married.  We are individuals by nature, and need time to express that inner person inside of us, outside of all other influences.

I speak for men and women when I say that you need to go out with your guy friends or girlfriends.  I think it's crucial to a successful relationship that each person fits in alone time, time with their friends with out the other, on top of the significant amount of time together.

My wife lives and loves the word BALANCE, and this is all about balance.  As Stacey graciously, beautifully and strong-as-a-bull-y carries our second child, I realize that I need to find the balance between being a married man/lover, a father/expectant father, a friend, and an individual.  It's not an easy task and one that requires time, communication and common sense.

Stacey is very generous and allows me plenty of opportunities to hang out w/ my friends or go to a movie by myself.  I try to make sure she gets her time alone or spa days w/ the girls.  We also try to make sure we spend quality time as a family, as a couple, and with our other couple friends.  Stacey and I try to go out on a date at least once a week, and we get 1 night to ourselves that we can either go out w/ friends or spend it alone.  We don't always stick to a schedule, depending on what's happening or who's in town, but we at least have that groundwork set up to avoid future confrontation.  We have to feed off each other, and Zoe, to determine what the weeks schedule will be.  And selfishness never helps.

I think guys get into a relationship and some where along the way, they enjoy spending so much time w/ the other person that they forget about themselves.  This causes unnecessary tension that can be avoided by setting ground rules from the beginning.

I guess what I'm learning, being married, and with the help of my best friend life partner, is that you need to own up what you need to make yourself happy.  I wish I could just tell all men, to be men, and stand up, be a man, and make decisions.  Our ladies appreciate that, as long as we're making the decision to spend quality time with them as well and they get to make decisions too.  Balance, people, balance.

Have a good one!
